In a decisive move to prioritize the well-being of children, Child Online Africa, in collaboration with World Vision International - Ghana, proudly announces its firm stance against the involvement of minors in political campaigns. Under the banners of "No Child Abuse In Elections" and "Ethical Campaigns Only," this initiative aims to shield Ghanaian children from the potential long-term consequences of such exposure.
Children's digital footprints and online reputations are at significant risk when they participate in political activities. The inappropriate or exploitative use of their images, videos, and personal information can lead to cyberbullying, privacy breaches, and lasting damage to their future prospects. Moreover, the emotional and psychological toll on children caught in the political spotlight can be detrimental to their development and well-being.
Child Online Africa in association with World Vision Ghana, therefore, calls upon all political parties and candidates in Ghana to refrain from involving children in their campaigns. Instead, we advocate for ethical practices that prioritize the protection and privacy of minors, ensuring their digital legacies remain untarnished and their futures bright.
By adhering to these principles, we can collectively safeguard the digital footprints of our children and ensure their well-being remains at the forefront of our societal values.
