GIFEC – Ghana Investment Fund for Electronic Communication
The commitment of Government to ensure the multi-sectoral application of ICT informs the formulation of the ICT Policy Statement of the Ministry of Communications, which has the mandate to promote, co-ordinate and monitor the effective development and deployment of ICTs in the public and private sectors. It is in the light of these that the Government of Ghana in 2005 set up the Ghana Investment Fund For Electronic Communications, (then Ghana Investment For Telecommunications). The law that strengthened GIFEC was promulgated in 2008 as the Electronic Communications ACT 775, though the agency started operations in January 2005.
